Who We Are

Euphonix is a Phoenix, AZ–based competitive barbershop quartet that blends timeless harmony with a modern touch. Drawing on the core elements of classic barbershop—ringing chords, a clean unit sound, and heartfelt storytelling—we lean into contemporary arranging and rhythm to create shows that feel both refined and current.

Whether on the contest stage or at a community event, Euphonix brings polish, personality, and a memorable ring to every show.

Since joining chorus in the 5th grade, singing has been my greatest passion, a hobby I am certain I will pursue for life. My barbershop journey began in 2007, performing with the remarkable Spirit of Phoenix (now the Phoenicians). A year later, I relocated to California and had the privilege of singing with the Masters of Harmony for three years and then with the Westminster Chorus for the past fourteen years. To date, I have earned 5 gold medals and 1 silver medal with these groups. Most recently, I returned to Arizona and became a member of the Southwest Vocal Alliance as well. Performing with all of these esteemed groups has taken me around the world and enriched my understanding and appreciation of this beautiful art form.

The one aspiration that has eluded me until now is singing in a quartet. Euphonix has fulfilled this dream, and I am thrilled to be part of this ensemble. Sharing this experience with my amazing fiancé makes it even more special. I cannot WAIT to see what achievements we will accomplish together!

Curt McLees - Bass

After enjoying the spotlight in his high school’s elite chorus, Curt suspended his vocal journey for 26 years. Then a work colleague convinced him to come to a rehearsal with the Great Northern Union, a fine barbershop chorus, in Minneapolis. He was hooked at the ringing of the GNU's first chord and soon found himself competing with them in BHS competitions.

When work brought him to Phoenix in 2001, he immediately joined the Phoenicians chorus. He also sang with the PHX quartet from 2010-2012 for fun and competition, entertaining frequently in various venues and contests.

Another singing hiatus occurred from 2012 to 2020, which ended with membership in the Southwest Vocal Alliance Chorus. While with the SVA, Curt started singing with Nathan, Janey and Ken in 2024. Curt is enjoying the diversity of arrangements being sung by Euphonix and continues to improve his singing skills with each performance.
